RAZOR WIRE / BARBED WIRE

RAZOR WIRE / BARBED WIRE

Razor wire is a network of sharp-edged metal strips designed to keep people from passing through. Compared to regular barbed wire, razor wire is significantly sharper. The extremely sharp points are designed to tear and snag flesh and clothing. A razor-wire fence’s numerous blades are intended to cause severe cuts to anyone trying to scale it, so they have a powerful psychological deterrent effect.

A type of steel fencing wire with sharp edges or points spaced at regular intervals along the strands is called barbed wire. It is applied to walls enclosing secured property and used to build low-cost fences. In trench warfare, it is also a significant component of the fortifications (as a wire obstacle).
